Snap launches its very own BeReal dupe; Madison Beer was named a Fenty Beauty ambassador; Megan Thee Stallion officially joins the MCU; and how Steve Lacy's "Bad Habit" became the melancholic hit of the summer.

GEN Z LOVES SHOPPING HAULS. CAN THEY EVER BE SUSTAINABLE?, voguebusiness
The “keep or return” trend on TikTok — in which consumers order a ton of clothes, try it all on for content, and then ask their followers whether they should “keep or return” — has been getting a whole lot of backlash.

“Thrift hauls have definitely influenced my shopping habits,” says Gabrielle Ragsdale, an 18-year-old student at the University of San Francisco and aspiring fashion designer. “Fast fashion hauls are pure entertainment. I still watch haul videos of the Zaras and the H&Ms and all of those type brands out of curiosity, but I don't shop like that anymore. I prefer finding unique things.”

(I understand why this trend is harmful to the environment, but at the same time, I find it extremely helpful to see clothing on different bodies, and I believe there should be an online database of this kind of thing! I’ve talked about this before, but I want to be able to see a catalog of people who own a specific item — this skirt, for example, is a piece I’ve been eyeing — so I can deduce whether it would work for me without buying it, shipping it, returning it, etc.)

WHAT 39 STUDENTS, FROM PRESCHOOL TO HIGH SCHOOL, ARE WEARING ON THEIR FIRST DAY BACK, strategist
Middle schoolers are apparently really into long socks. “I really do not like no-show socks,” says Tess, a seventh grader from Solana Beach. “I don’t think that looks cute. I made my best friends switch over to long socks.”

MEET FASHION ROADMAN, FASHION CRITIC FOR A NEW GENERATION, vogue
Is fashion getting worse? Who is Rei Kawakubo? What is fashion week?
Fashion journalist Odunayo (Ayo) Ojo has amassed over 90,000 subscribers and 3 million views on his YouTube channel, Fashion Roadman, by answering these questions.

ONLINE CREATORS ARE DE FACTO THERAPISTS FOR MILLIONS. IT’S COMPLICATED., wapo
“There absolutely is a concerted effort to really capitalize on mental illness and particularly on young women’s mental illness. It’s a very marketable commodity right now,” said Rayne Fisher-Quann, who openly talks about her struggles with mental illness with her 225,000 followers on TikTok.

THE DATING APP HYPE IS OVER, hypebae
New York-based single Amit is one of the few people who chose to pivot, instead of ditching dating apps. For him, that meant outsourcing to Airtasker, an Australian company that matches people to complete your needed task for you.

First day of class at Parsons and I was not prepared for the amount of spaghetti strap camisoles and handkerchief hem skirts that the girlies are rocking
