FOR ONCE, ROOKIE CONSULTANTS DON’T HAVE ENOUGH TO DO, wsj
With few clients, some young workers are spending their days watching Netflix while still getting paid. Sounds ideal, but it’s really not — this could create big problems for the broader “campus-to-industry talent pipeline,” since consulting firms are some of the biggest recruiters at top universities, and many young consultants go on to the leadership ranks of finance, business, and tech “with the lessons learned from advising corporate clients.”
TWITCH INFLUENCER KAI CENAT’S AMP GROUP APOLOGIZES AFTER UNION SQUARE PARK RIOT: ‘WE DO NOT CONDONE THAT BEHAVIOR’, variety
Thousands of people flocked to Union Square Park on Friday evening after Twitch star Kai Cenat told fans he’d be giving away PlayStation 5s. The flash mob became violent, resulting in multiple injuries and 65 arrests, according to the NYPD. I don’t know what Kai Cenat’s goal was — there’s simply no way he was expecting it to be a chill fan meet-up — but I will say a lot of people who had ever heard the name “Kai Cenat” know it now.

The campaign centers around two short films, “Small Fries” and “Send Off,” that were shot in the real homes of Gen Zers in Austin. The campaign will appear everywhere from programmatic digital video to out-of-home ads to…TikTok.
HOW TIKTOK CHANGED THE MEANING OF A MILLION FOLLOWERS, time
The structure of TikTok’s app has weighted virality like no other app before it, leading to more creators with high follower counts than ever before — and ultimately changing the ecosystem of influence. More than 39,000 accounts on TikTok now have at least 1 million followers.
This has created a “fascinating subculture of influence,” says Brendan Gahan, Chief Innovation Officer at creative agency Mekanism. “Many creators have a dedicated following within their niche, but they remain anonymous to the wider world,” says Gahan, who sits on VidCon’s advisory board and has attended the conference since it began in 2010.
TIKTOK IS BUILDING AN E-COMMERCE TEAM TO GO AFTER PRE-OWNED LUXURY BAG BUYERS AND SNEAKERHEADS, insider
TikTok appears to be building a dedicated team tasked with boosting sales of pre-owned luxury items like bags and collectibles such as sneakers, per a new set of job openings on its website. In addition to having experience in luxury partnerships, it also expects its future "Head of Pre-Owned Luxury" operation lead to understand influencer marketing too — the JD says they’re looking for "strong commercial acumen to understand deeply how the TikTok platform and content- and creator-commerce work together with brands."
