Hello, and happy Friday! Even though Daylight Savings is upon us, and even though it already feels like winter in New York, and even though Susan Miller predicted a month full of “unexpected turbulence” for me, I’m just happy to be here — and even happier to be blathering on about what young consumers are up to this week.

I was tempted to go deep on Gen Z in the workforce — or Gen Z opting out of the workforce, rather — but the lesson we can all learn from headlines like this and this and also this is pretty simple: If employers can’t figure out how to improve workplace conditions, compensate people more fairly, and generally be less shitty, things are only going to get worse. Pretty obvious, right? So instead, we’ll be looking at:

  1. 👗Ever the earnest optimists, Gen Z hates black/loves color

  2. 💸 Gen Z is not particularly excited about money, marriage, or babies, according to new research

  3. 💑 The future of dating lies in the metaverse (that’s what Tinder’s hoping, at least)
