Airbnb has had backlash in recent years for being as expensive as hotels, but with more fees and fewer amenities. In response, the short-term rental company rolled out a new offering yesterday called Airbnb Rooms. Guests can rent a room in the same house or apartment as their host (which has always been an option) at prices that Airbnb says will average $67 a night (which is the new part). “This is going to be especially popular for the next generation of travelers,” said CEO Brian Chesky. “The average Gen Z traveler wants to pay less than $100 a night.”
