Welcome back to After School Monday Edition, a not-so-brief trends debrief for paid subscribers. A monthly subscription costs considerably less than a Crisp Martini at Hillstone (more on that below), so please consider upgrading. 🫶

Optimization is the new morality
Guava is the new tomato
LooksmaxxingGPT wants you to mog harder
Light beer is trying to be cool again
Zara hauls now come with tariffs

The Woke Macarena

When Kylie Jenner nonchalantly revealed the exact details of her breast augmentation in a TikTok comment earlier this week (“445 cc, moderate profile, half under the muscle!!!!! Silicone!!! Garth Fisher!!!”), her surgeon was flooded with over 150 calls a day and my FYP was flooded with women sharing the exact details of their own breast augmentations.
This was quite the pivot for Kylie, who for years denied having plastic surgery of any kind. What comes across as a casual girlfriend-to-girlfriend disclosure (she used eleven exclamation marks!) is symbolic of a larger generational shift towards, shall we say, aestheticized authenticity. Can something even be authentic if it is also deeply considered and deliberately aesthetic? I’m not sure!
