Emma Chamberlain is the face of Levi’s new Gold Tab collection; Gigi Hadid launched her cashmere brand Guest in Residence; and the college student who made a $110 million profit on Bed Bath & Beyond stock did a Twitter Q&A.

‘WE DON’T CARE IF IT’S GOOD OR BAD’: BRANDS ARE UPDATING THEIR USER-GENERATED CONTENT STRATEGIES TO STRETCH MARKETING DOLLARS, modernretail
At a time when brands are truly throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks (on TikTok, obviously, but also Instagram and its famously fickle algos), why not…have brand superfans throw spaghetti at the wall for you?

“About eight out of 10 of these videos get a few hundred views, but about 10% to 20% of the time they get a few hundred thousand views that spike our sales,” said Ashwinn Krishnaswamy, founder of DTC brand Oklahoma Smokes, which makes hemp-based, nicotine-free cigarettes to help smokers quit. One video a customer posted in July had half a million views and drove $14,000 of sales in one day.

THE TIKTOK STAR OF WASHINGTON SQUARE PARK, nyt
Over his show’s 18-month run, Mr. Burleson has swanned from a new-to-town college student to a social media celebrity who gets recognized by strangers, invited to fashion parties and has sponsorship deals with companies like Coach, Nike and Neutrogena.

WONKA OF WILLIAMSBURG: INSIDE KIDSUPER’S 10,000-SQUARE-FOOT CREATIVE FACTORY, vogue
On Roebling Street, KidSuper founder Colm Dillane is building a sprawling multi-use retail space and creative center “that matches the designer and 2021 LVMH Karl Lagerfeld Prize winner’s ambitions.” This place is two blocks away from me, I literally pass it daily, and I had no idea all this time I was in the presence of a modern-day Wonka. If I can sneak in, I’ll report back…

According to plans shared with Vogue Business, the development will act as the private design studios and office space for the KidSuper brand, as well as Dillane’s painting studio and apartment. Much of it will also be publicly accessible, including a multi-brand retail store, cafe, gallery space and performance space. There will also be a recording studio and, on the roof, a soccer pitch. Dillane has taken a five-to-15 year lease on the building, and its first stage is likely to open by the end of the year if all goes to plan.

HOW THE HARD ROCK CAFE T-SHIRT TOOK OVER THE WORLD, fashionista
Hard Rock operates more than 250 hotels and venues in 68 countries worldwide. The logo merch has become so synonymous with the chain that its legacy arguably surpassed the dining experience itself. Some might even call it the planet's most popular T-shirt. (Ngl, this made me look up vintage Hard Rock tees on eBay…)

WHY REFORMATION’S STAGING A ‘NO-SHOW’ FASHION SHOW, sourcingjournal
Yesterday, the brand debuted its fall 2022 line in an online-only virtual showcase streamed on its e-commerce site. Models in dresses, sweaters, separates and outerwear walked the runway in an empty L.A. warehouse for an audience watching from their digital devices — all in order to highlight the waste and carbon footprint a typical fashion show generates. I would pay to see streaming numbers for this.
