Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty launches loungewear (and taps Dove Cameron to model); Y2K is slowly returning in (…or ruining?) streetwear; Snap is laying off 20% of its workforce; and was the applause for Johnny Depp at the VMAs fake?

10 STUDENTS SHARE THE BACK-TO-SCHOOL OUTFITS THEY’RE WEARING THIS YEAR, glamour
This piece is a delight, though this sentence made me feel ancient: “Political science major and TikTok big sister Brianna Urea says that any college student can get a ton of wear out of a corset top and a pair of leather pants.” A corset top and a pair of leather pants??? When I was in college, I wore Ralph Lauren polos and Hollister jean skirts.

HOW THE INTERNET TURNED DADCORE STAPLE, ‘FISH FEAR ME,’ INTO VIRAL FASHION, input
Lesbians, in particular, have embraced the phrase. Queer indie musician Lucy Dacus even released a $30 official merch hat that reads “Lucy loves me, dads fear me” and features an embroidered rainbow trout.

THE CROWDED, CHILDISH JOYS OF CLUTTERCORE, thecut
Cluttercore has recently become a handy, TikTok-searchable catchall for an aesthetic that demands every available surface be covered with the type of tchotchkes and doodads the rest of us would shove in a box or simply throw away. “The look is very Lisa Frank meets Tony Duquette.”

FOLLOWING ITS SERIES A, POPARAZZI’S TEAM IS READYING A NEW SOCIAL APP THAT GOES BEYOND PHOTOS, techcrunch
The company behind last summer’s hot social app Poparazzi appears to be readying a round two following its $15 million Series A announced in June. A new listing in the App Store under the developer’s account, TTYL, is teasing a pre-release app called Made With Friends wherein social networking profiles are crafted by a user’s friends instead of by the users themselves.

“They’re sticky. I could never imagine picking up a kid that’s covered in ice cream. I’m a bit of a germaphobe. I don’t want to change a diaper. If I did have one, I wouldn’t want them until they’re in, like, sixth grade. I also think the physical Earth isn’t doing so great so it would be unfair,” she said.

One last thought:

You know- it’s funny. Any time I’ve written about peoples reluctance to have kids, someone has fired back that people *are* having kids. I don’t know what’s true anymore

To the people who speak out about their reluctance to have kids: thank you. You’ve made the right choice.
