I'm so tired of the "why don't men read novels" discourse that appears once a quarter. Since Jane Austen's time the patriarchy considered the reading of novels to be "womanly". In the modern era men are way less likely to read books written by women where women will read a wide variety of authors. Long story short the reason men don't read is men and I'm so tired of the handwringing over it
Last night, I went to a showing of Brokeback Mountain at Alamo Drafthouse. I first watched it in high school (as God intended), and every rewatch gives me a better appreciation for the movie and its impact. (Side note: why is the Aussie the only one with an authentic western American accent?)
