As a Missourian it’s so interesting to see how that aesthetic is being translated by Chappell and her team. Right now it seems to be limited to camo? I would be so interested to hear your thoughts on what else could be considered “missouricore” bc I know you’ve mentioned you’re also from the region.

What I think of, inevitably, as embodying the Midwest/Greene County Walmart aesthetic is those dark wash flares with jewels on the pockets. Which is convenient bc that’s cute again!

There are a bunch of Minecraft audio books voiced by Jack Black (they were only somewhat tolerable to have going on in the background of my life BECAUSE it was Jack Black) so it makes total sense that he’s been picked for the movie. My kids are 13 and 14 and still occasionally play Minecraft socially with friends.

Also I’m definitely gonna start using the word “pants”. That’s hilarious. And makes totally sense. Kids, elementary and middle grade boys especially, hate wearing pants. In their world pants 100% equals bad. I can see how that term arose naturally.
